NIP Care

What is NIP Care?

The NIPCare® test is a non-invasive prenatal test (commonly termed an NIPT) that screens for Down Syndrome and certain other genetic conditions caused by extra or missing genetic information in the baby’s DNA.

It’s important to note that all NIPTs like NIPCare® are screening tests and are not classified as diagnostic. This means that they are not %100 accurate and that ‘false positive’ or ‘false negative’ results can very rarely occur.

NIPCare® consists of a small maternal blood draw and is available from as early as week 10 of pregnancy. Results are available within 10 working days.

NIPCare® offers higher rates of accuracy than traditional screening tests and, unlike invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, poses no miscarriage risk to the mother or baby.

As of January 2020, over NIPCare® uses a database of 5,000,000 NIPT tests that have been performed worldwide.

Why get a NIPCare® test?

  • Available from week 10 of pregnancy, the NIPCare® test gives you an early option to know more about the genetic health of your baby.
  • Compared to traditional screening tests, the NIPCare® test offers higher accuracy and lower false positive rates.
  • This means that less women will undergo invasive diagnostic procedures such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling which carry a 1-2% risk of miscarriage.
  • NIPCare® is non-invasive and therefore poses no risk to the mother or baby.
